Friends of Sareka

Friends are people that visited the Sareka-House and did something valuable for the children. Some of them donated money, rice, toys or clothing. Other spend their some of their valuable holliday time to do volunteer work. Sareka is really greatfull to those who helped out the children in a big or small way. If you ever visit Sihanoukville, please see Sokha at Serendipity Beach in Sareka's Gallery. Together you can spend a day at the dumpsite, the school and ofcourse the Sareka-House. It will be a highlight of your stay in Cambodia!

Marga and Marleen - the Netherlands

Marga and her daughter Marleen visited the Sareka-House in July 2010. They bought new clothes for all of the children in the Sareka-House. Even then there was enough money left to be spend on the renovation project of the Sareka-House.

Tara - the Netherlands

Tara is the new volunteer teacher in the Sareka-House. She picks up the English lessons were Aneesa left. Tara will teach te children on a daily base for at least 3 weeks.

Simon - UK

On the last day of his stay in Sihanoukville Simon visited the Sareka-House. Noticing the lack of daily fruits he donated $50 to buy fruits. At least for a week the children will have plenty of delicious fruits wih their meals! Also Simon donated $50 for the well.

Mike and Lioba - the Netherlands

They visited the Sareka-House in October 2009 and donated a volleyball, football and basketball to the children of the Sareka-House. They also donated a schoolbell to the local school. When they return home they will keep supporting the Sareka-house in a financial way and get as much of their friends to do the same.

Aneesa - United Kingdom

In September 2009 Aneesa spend 2 - 3 hours a day for 3 weeks teaching the children English. She donated all the materials needed for teaching, goodbye presents and some money aswell. Back in England she keeps supporting Sareka by finding as much people to donate to Sareka as she can. Next year she will be back to continue her English classes in the Sareka-House.

Anthony and Michi - Australia

A wonderfull day in September 2009. They donated a guitar to the Sareka-house. Back in Australia they try to raise money with their friends and relatives for building a toilet and shower building at the Sareka-House.

Lucas, Arno, Guus and Bas - the Netherlands

In July 2009 the 4 Dutch friends spend a week at the Sareka-House to do some serious labour. They created a gutter to prevent flooding by rainwater and made a concrete terras for the children to play at. They raised all the money needed for construction and materials with their friends and relatives. 1 day they took all of the children for a day at the beach. Again on their expenses. It sure was a day never to forget for both the children and the volunteers.

Amanda - United Kingdom

In July 2009 one of Sareka's earliest supporters, visited the Sareka-House to witness with her own eyes what great work can and have been done with her purchases of Sareka-products in the past. Back in England, she is now raising the money needed to construct a well at the Sareka-House. Now the well is finished, Amanda did another fundraising event. This time to finance the renovation project of the Sareka-House.

Ulrich - Germany

In June 2008 Ulrich visited the dumpsite, school and Sareka-House. Moved by what he witnessed he decided to donate enough money to buy 200kg of rice. Enough to feed the children at the Sareka-House for at least a month. Back home he convinced several friends to make a donation to the Sareka-House.

Roelof - The Netherlands

In April 2008 Roelof visited the Dupsite. He was confronted with a horrific situation of a new born baby named Sreykay. The mother was unable to take care for the newborn and without help Sreykay was sure to die soon. Roelof decided he would try to do everything to save Sreykay. Back in the Netherlands he managed to raise enough money to buy canned milk for at least a year, pay for some medical bills and made sure Sreykay could stay in the Sareka-House instead of the dumpsite.
