Sareka's sponsors

People from all over the world are helping Sareka to make a difference for the children living on the dumpsite of Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

Ant, Michi and the friends from Mornington Peninsula, AU

Our good friends Ant and Michi organized 3 fundraising events in 2010 in their hometown. Raising a grand total of $3000,-! A really wonderfull accomplishement that will benefit the children of the 'Sareka-House' and the community living and working on the dumpsite in many many ways. Some of this money will be used to fund our renovation program, some to purchase new schoolbooks and uniforms for next schoolyear and we even will buy dry rice and clean drinkingwater for the dumpsite community. At least $500,- will be kept in a saving account to be able to pay for emergency expensis like the cholera outbreak we had in the Sareka-House in May 2009. Please visit their website: Hillsindegrove

The Mandala-Trust, UK

Since Matt met Sokha in 2006 on the beach of Sihanoukville, The Mandala-Trust helped out Sareka number of times providing the initial startup money for many of Sareka's projects. In 2007, when Sareka's 'treassure-chest' was completly empty, the Mandala-Trust donated £750 so Sareka could continue providing essential help to the people living on the dumpsite. in 2009 the Mandala-Trust again made a donation. £1.000 was received this time to be spend on Sareka's projects. With this donation we could start Sareka's gallery on the beach.

stichting Wees Welkom, NL

The Dutch foundation, founded by Sareka's earliest supporters Jean-Michel and Martijn, started the Sareka-House in February 2009. The foundation keeps supporting Sareka by providing all of the money needed for the monthly costs of the Sareka-House. The rent of the building, the daily meals and costs for school come down to approx. $750 every month.
With extra funding from stichting Wees Welkom we were able to take all of the children to the dentist to free them from their toothache. They also donated the money to build a kitchenroom with an additional 'multipurpose room' wich can be used as library, homework classroom or even a hospital room in case we have ill children.

The Thetford Grammer school, UK

Amanda and the children of the Thetford Grammer school organised fundraiser events number of times. In 2008 they collected enough money to buy a paper-press for Sareka's recycled paper-project. In 2009 the children baked cakes and sold them raising £70! This money is to be spend on digging a well at the Sareka-House providing the children with plenty of clean water.

The people of Westley village, UK

Amanda and Shane organised several fundraiser events in there hometown Westley village. on 28th November 2009 they will hold a supper in the village hall and show the movie they made while visiting the dumpsite and the Sareka-House. Also they hold a raffle for wich the people of 'the Three Kings pub' and 'Fornham Golf Course' have contributed prizes. The money donated by the people of Westley village will be enough to start digging the well at the Sareka-House before the end of 2009!

Again in June 2010 Amanda and Shane mobilized the community of Westley Village with another fundraising event. This time they raised the grand total of $780,-. This money was spend on the first fase of our renovation project. The Sareka-House now has a new toilet, an extra bedroom, new steps and a new roof! In fase 2 of the renovation project we plan to replace broken floor and wall boards and do a complete re-paint of the entire building.

Pim's Bar & Restaurant, Cambodia

Pim and Wilma, the owners of Pim's Bar & Restaurant in Sihanoukville, did some remarkable things for the children of the Sareka-House. First they invited the children to have a day packed with fun. There was mini-golf, hamburgers and cartoons, a day the children will never forget! Pim visited all of his Dutch collegeu restaurantowners in Sihanoukville and managed to raise enough money to start building the toilet and shower building for the Sareka-House.
